DARKENING

It is an application that increases the corrosion resistance of the material. This product group, which operates at high temperatures, should be degreased beforehand. A dark black image will appear on the coated metal and the process should be continued with protective oil. Oxidation is the process of forming an oxide film with lubricating properties on the mold surface in metal injection applications where adhesion and adhesive wear are experienced. The 2-5 µm thick iron oxide film formed on the surface after the process forms a barrier between the mold and the molten metal and prevents adhesion due to mechanical and intermetallic phase formation. Oxidation is essential before first use, especially in complex figured molds where cooling may be insufficient or where lubricant and cooling spray is difficult to reach.

BLACK OXIDATION

The metal is coated with a dark black color coating. After the process, the metal is immersed in a protective oil bath and becomes resistant to rust. Suitable for iron, steel and cast parts. The operating temperature is 135-145°C. At this temperature, the coating occurs while the bath is boiling.

PHOSPHATE COATING

Phosphate coating is formed by the reaction of a metal and a chemical solution. The phosphate layer is the insoluble iron, zinc or manganese phosphate structure on the surface, depending on the nature of the phosphate coating product. The phosphate coating reaction is considered as an acid-base reaction with dissolution of the metal surface with phosphoric acid. During this process, a local increase in pH is observed. The metallic phosphate becomes insoluble on the metal and forms a metallic colored structure.

Zinc phosphate is generally used for metal parts that require long-term corrosion and impact resistance. It is preferred for painted parts to be used outdoors. In the automotive industry, zinc phosphate is used in wire drawing and pipe drawing processes and for thousands of metal parts before thickening oil. It is a suitable coating method for iron, steel and galvanized parts.
